Our staff is available to consult with you as you plan your refinishing or restoration project(s). Our services range from free estimates for individual pieces to paid consultation for larger or more complex projects such as evaluation, project management, or faux finishing projects.

In-home Services
Is your furniture looking tired? Age spots turning up (or worse yet, rings from glasses left on the surface too long?) Maybe some small dings, dents or gouges, cigarette burns. Perhaps we can help. In-home service can save you 1/2 to 3/4 the cost of sending your furniture out for restoration. Sometimes restoration is the answer, other times, touch-up service will do the trick! What can we do for you? Here is a list of the "typical" problems that can be addressed with touch-up service.
* dents, dings, gouges
* surface scratches in wood
* repair of furniture frames, broken chairs
* restore faded or missing finish and wood colors

Spot Repairs and Touch-up
In about 80% of spot repair pieces we can fill, color, and blend out the damage so that it cannot be seen. In the remaining 20% repairs will not be noticeable to the casual observer, but you will always know where they are. These are the limitations of spot repair. In about 25% of the furniture we see, stripping and refinishing may do more harm than good. This may be especially true if your furniture was built in the last thirty years. Special layers of glaze and coloring effects would be washed away by stripping! We can clean away damaged parts of the finish, recolor, and polish or finish the coating to revive much of its original lustre.

Furniture Stripping
Whether you choose to take advantage of our "strip only" service for do-it-yourselfers or want us to take care of the complete job for you, you will be pleased with the final result.

Repair We will repair the broken places and can even duplicate missing parts, or, if that is not possible, order them from restoration supply companies.

Refinishing
At Lockwood we use the highest quality stains and topcoats. You have a choice of a range of different finishes from shellac to pre-catalyzed laquer; from no-gloss to high gloss. During our initial conference with you, the customer, we will help guide you to the finish that is best suited for the future use of the piece(s) you are having refinished.

Veneer Repair
We can do a "spot repair" or replace a whole piece. Generally, replacement is the way to go as it is quite difficult to make an invisivble repair in old veneer. If, however, you choose to have a spot repair, we will endeavor to make it as invisible as possible.

Metal Stripping and Cleaning
Whether you have an old milk can that has been painted several times or a copper pot which has tarnished over the years, Lockwood Refinishing & Restoration can turn most metal items into pieces which you will be glad to have in your home.

Wicker, Rattan, Cane, and Rush
The staff at Lockwood's has been trained to handle repairs to wicker and rattan. If you chair requires a new caned or rushed seat, just let us know! We will be happy to discuss your needs with you.

In the Office
Time is money! We can provide on-site services just like those listed on the "In-home Touch-up" page. If that is not the best way to go, we will take your piece(s) back to our shop. We will schedule pick-ups and delivery to minimize down-time and interruptions to your office schedule. Desks, credenzas, tables, chairs; we can help you keep your "best face foreward."

Painting
Yes, we will clean and spray paint your wicker or lawn furniture. In the case of metal furniture, the use of the latest rust-prevention methods is "standard procedure." Just call!
